Illinois is the nation’s second leading producer of corn in the United States. In 2008, just 20% of Illinois’ corn production was used to make ethanol. These statistics make Illinois the perfect location for ethanol production.
Illini Bio-Energy, LLC, organized as an Illinois limited liability company, intends to build a corn fractionation and ethanol production facility at Hartsburg, Illinois. Annually the facility will have a design capacity to produce 130 million gallon of ethanol, 165,000 tons of corn germ, and 200,000 tons of high-protein meal to be used as animal feed.
Ethanol production is one way to enhance the energy sector in the United States and make the nation less dependent of foreign fuels. Illinois is perfectly positioned to deliver its ethanol production to the nations markets.
